Vanilla Derby at ECE

East Coast Extravaganza was this past weekend in Philadelphia, PA, one of the BIGGEST derby events that happens every year and Vanilla was there to rep it right. Mona Bruis’r and I were running the booth and talking to people left and right about all of our new upcoming products and not to mention, the Brass Knuckle Derby Boot. Another product that got alot of questions and praise were the Backspin Revenge Derby Wheels. Nothing but great things were said about Vanilla Derby!

We also got to watch some of the most talented derby skaters play. Every bout was intense and exciting. The person that we enjoyed most to watch was Bonnie Thunders from Gotham Roller Girls (NY) absolutely amazing jammer. Watching her skate makes my jaw drop! Another skater that was incredible was Varla Vendetta who skates out of Chicago with Windy City. She skated her heart out Saturday night against Gotham! If you ever get a chance, make sure to look this derby skaters up, you will definitely learn alot!

Although it was fun in Philly, we are glad to be home in Dallas

Dallas Derby Devils will be in Alabama at the Rocket City Rumble tournament July 16th. I will be sure to post after to let yall know how it went! Wish us luck!

Vanilla Does Cancun!

Miley Virus here…Matomic and I just got back from Cancun for Mona Bruisr’s wedding. It was completly amazing and I didn’t want to leave. We went snorkeling (almost had a heartattack), parasailing and got a TON of sun. As you can see in the pic, we are reppin it Vanilla style on the white sandy beach in front of our resort! Oh and Matomic also proposed to me the last night we were in Mexico so I will soon be Mrs. Matomic

On a derby side note, I will be going to ECE in Philadelphia in a couple weeks and will be sure to let you guys know how awesome it was!

Matomic at Spring Roll, Mens Roller Derby!

what’s up Vanilla world?

it’s Matomic, i just got back from the biggest derby tournament of my life, it was called the Spring Roll, in Ft Wayne Indiana, pretty much the first men’s derby nationals, there were six teams there, representing all regions, the first time that’s ever happened.

i went with my team, The Dallas Deception, we were number 1 seeded in our pool, followed by #2 seeded Twin City Terrors from MN, and newcoming team the STL Gatekeepers, led by a good friend of mine, Magnum PIMP. the other pool had #1 seeded Harm City Homicide from Baltimore, #2 seeded Puget Sound Outcasts from WA(the only team i’d ever lost too) and newcomers the Race City Rebels from Indy.

the day started off with an upset win when the Gatekeepers edged out The Terrors, so of course, our first game is against a brand new team that just trumped a high ranked team, has a ton of steam heading into our game, we started out normal, me jamming hard and having my Vanilla Brass Knuckle boot and Backspin Revenge on that slick concrete floor do all the work, things went well until last second penalty trouble saw us down, we ended up losing by 3 points, it was cool tho, because my team is very cool with the Gatekeepers and we were glad they got the win. We then played for 3rd place against Harm City.

THAT GAME WAS CRAZY! we changed lead at least 15 times! i finally decided to let the Vanilla’s that i had do the talking so i kept lining up to jam, over and over and over, at one point i jammed 3 jams back to back, sat one jam, and jammed 3 more… needless to say, the hardcore jamming and the Vanilla’s paid off, we won 110-91.

i saw a ton of ppl rocking the brass knuckle boot, and almost my home team had the Revenge, which were awesome on that slick floor! i talked to a ton of ppl about the Brass Knuckle V2 coming out in a few months, the hype is INSANE! ppl can’t believe we are going to offer top grain leather for the same price as our old boots, they loved it!

Franky Panky Tournament

Dallas Derby Devils skated a tournament back in April in Tampa, FL. It was a great tournament but it was on a basketball court! Luckily I had my Backspin Revenge wheels and stuck like a champ. This was my first tournament back since my knee surgery that I had in January and it felt amazing! I am going to focus on not getting hurt for a while

Our next game is against the Northwest Arkansas Killbillies this weekend. I will be sure to blog about it and let yall know how it went!

Oly, Here I Come!

Howdy yall! I hope everyone had a good new year.  I just want to let everyone know that I will be at the Oly Boot Camp in Olympia, Washington January 16-17 representing Vanilla and the Dallas Derby Devils. I am super stoked about this and cannot wait to meet everyone. I am ready to get my butt kicked by these amazing ladies and hope to learn alot. I will make sure to post after the camp on how it went and how awesome it was. Wish me luck!

Hey Vanilla Derby fans!

Dallas Derby Devils and Dallas Deception just hosted Queen of the Hive this past weekend and it was a blast! My body is hating me a little bit but it is so worth it. I just got the new Vanilla Brass Knuckles Derby boot and skated on it during the tournament. I skated from 10 am until 8:30 pm that night and no blisters! The skates were ammmaaazzinnng and not to mention they looked so rad. They are by far the most comfortable skates I have put on my feet, and trust me, I have worn alot of skates!
